Michael Savage explores a presidential bid

In what can only be described as a surreal news day — with the unbelievable homophobic Snickers ad dustup, Ted Haggard studying to be a therapist, and Ralph Nader mulling another spoiler bid, here is the capper for the night. (Newsmax):

Michael Savage, the nation’s third-most listened to radio talk-show host, says he may leave his top rated show to make a bid for the GOP nomination for president.

“I know it sounds bizarre but when you consider the people running for the presidency, none . . . seems to be qualified,” Savage told NewsMax in an exclusive interview.

…Savage, with his loyal listenership, says he can play an important role in the Republican primaries, gain critical support, and add to the planned debates. “I would think that somebody who’s not a politician might be a viable candidate,” Savage stated, stressing that he would focus his campaign on his mantra: “Borders, language, Culture.”

…On the now red hot issue of global warming, Savage was equally savage. “It is the biggest hoax of out lifetimes,” he charged. “It is being promulgated by people who want to control the industrialized West without firing a shot.” He explained that he is the only radio host “with an actual Ph.D. in a real science from a great university.”

From Media Matters, some of the Best of Savage:
* On MLK Day, Savage called civil rights a “racket” designed to steal “white males’ birthright”

* Savage on the link between “the homosexualization of the media” and our descent “to a level below that of the apes”

* Savage: To “save the United States,” lawmakers should institute “outright ban on Muslim immigration” and on “the construction of mosques”

* Savage: Michael Richards’ “tirade” demonstrates “what liberalism really is”

* Olbermann awarded Savage “Worst Person” for claiming anti-gay remark will appear “in several of the blogs run by gays,” whom he compared to “drug addicts”

You know I couldn’t refrain from taking a wade into the swamps of Freeperland, his listener base.

wadya think? THE MAN IS A MENTAL CASE….HE’S PSYCHOTIC, not to mention MANIC DEPRESSIVE….But he sure knows how to sell books….

I think I can’t believe anyone dumb enough to either…
#1- believe him
#2- think it’s a good idea
#3- want to vote for him

His previous elected office was? Why do people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Pat Buchanan, and apparently Savage think that the presidency of the United States is an entry level position? That’s what I’d like to know.

Great laugh before I go to sleep. That is really pathetic if true.

“I know it sounds bizarre but when you consider the people running for the presidency, none . . . seems to be qualified,”
And Savage will continue that tradition.

Must be ratings time. Maybe he could change his name to Oscar Meyer Weiner.

HAhahahahahahaha! Savage is a lunatic…a true nutcase and stupid to boot. His alleged PHD notwithstanding. This proves it.

Still, he’s convinced he could help push the Republican Party back to its conservative roots.

OK, he’s got a point there, but is Savage the face and voice of conservatism? I’ll pass.

hey, if it works like he intends and brings the republicans back to conservativ roots, by all means do it

He’s a “compassionate conservative”, isn’t he?

I don’t anyone who is a lunatic near the button..

If he were not so seriously deranged that he probably believes that he is presidential material, this would be the funniest thing I’ve read on FR in weeks!

For anyone who dislikes Savage…Substitute every mention of Michael Savage in the article, and replace it with the candidate of one’s choice, and where would the argument be against him?

He wants to be the Commander in Chief, but he doesn’t know the difference between decimating the enemy and annihilating them. One moment he’s advocating kicking everyone out of Anbar Province and bombing the rest of them as terrorists who don’t leave, and then he advocates pulling out immediately to allow a full scale civil war.

I think I see a Ross Perot behind every tree. Today’s Ross Perot is Michael Savage.
