Freeper meltdown as Bush nominates Muslim as UN Ambassador
ABC News reports that Dear Leader will nominate Zalmay Khalilzad to be the new U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Khalilzad is currently the U.S. ambassador to Iraq.
The knuckledraggers at Freeperland Central don’t know what to do. After all, they just spent days roasting Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, for simply asking to use a Koran for his private swearing in ceremony (Freeps: “Everything I know about Islam I learned on 9/11/01″…”Dear Mr. Ellison: I think we know all we need to know about your insidious ‘religion’.”)
Now they are faced with having to do a 180 and endorse King George the Demi-God’s choice of someone who follows that “insidious religion.”
Ryan Crocker, currently the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, will be nominated to replace Khalilzad in Baghdad. Khalilzad has been U.S. ambassador to Iraq since June 2005. He is the highest ranking Muslim in the U.S. government and one of the few officials at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad fluent in Arabic.
A consummate dealmaker, Khalilzad played an active role trying to push the Iraqi government toward political reconciliation. Khalilzad’s efforts aliented some in the Shia-dominated Iraqi government who complained that Khalilzad was biased in favor of Iraq’s Sunnis. Khalilzad is a Sunni Muslim.
What would Virginia Congressman Virgil Goode, who had his knickers in a twist over Ellison, or Town Hall’s Dennis Prager say about this development? Prager was unhinged over Ellison, saying “Mr. Ellison, America, not you, decides on what book its public servants take their oath.”
The big question — are the Freepi worried about being consistent? What do you think? Take a look at the squirming after the flip.
Sorry, I just don’t trust any Muslims until I’m proven wrong.
My thoughts exactly! Am I the only one who feels like the sell-out of America to our enemies is gaining momentum? Someone please tell me, is Bush doing this to appease the Muslim community or is he doing it because this man just happens to be the most qualified?
He is a staunch conservative that has served republican presidents all the way back to Reagan. He has been a supporter of republicans for over 20 years and was our ambassador to Afghanistan and Iraq in the last six years. Excellent choice, since we lost out best Bolton. A strong supporter that will drive Syria and Iran nuts.
He worked for Ronald Reagan. Was Reagan wrong?
I’m not a Muslim hater. But I have good reason not to trust them until they prove to me they’re worthy of my trust.
Yeah, that’s fair. I simply call it common sense. Until this WoT is all sorted out, I don’t think we should have ANY muslim leaders.
There are some muslims that hate terrorists and the radicals that have hijacked Islam.
You don’t know how refreshing it is to discover that there are still sane, reasonable Freepers out there.
Should be interesting to see how osama obama votes on this one.
why? he’ll get the nomination. the way the dims have whined about “anybody but bolton” confirmation is a given
Why is he bad?
Because some people on FR think that all Muslims are actually terrorists and should be rounded up and either tossed out of the country or killed.
It sure as hell wasn’t fundamentalist Christians who did this:
Sorry if that offends you.

The implication that all Muslims are somehow complicit in that crime sure as hell offends me.
So you’re going to blame an entire group of people because of the actions of 19 terrorists? Sorry but that is like saying all Christians are killers because some nuts have blown up abortion clinics or murdered abortion doctors.
I have issue with any religion that says “convert or we’ll kill you.”
It is pretty amazing when the Iraqis, the Somalis, the Ethiopians, etc. mostly Muslims, are fighting the radical muslims and some losing their lives and some bigots and kneejerkers here on FR ignore that fact.
Muslims have managed to give us a few reasons to be suspicious!
I never said all Muslims were killers. I just said that incident makes me suspect until I learn otherwise about the person. The history of Muslims and terrorism certainly does NOT give me reason to trust them as a whole until I hear otherwise about a specific individual.
Using your formula…I guess all men are suspect and not to be trusted, because we had assassinations carried out by men.
Less than one percent of famous men are killers. About 90% of famous Muslims are. Do the math. You’re as bad as cops afraid to say a murder suspect is black for fear of being racist.
Where in the Constitution does it say that in a time of war its ok to have members of your enemy represent you?
Holy crap! Please forward all evidence you have that this man is a member of Al Qaeda or the Taliban to the President immediately! A grateful nation breathes a sigh of relief.
