Poll: 57 percent believe another state will enact marriage equality in 2007

An Associated Press-AOL News poll asked people in the U.S. what they think will happen in 2007. Over half said another state would open marriage to gay and lesbians.

As things stand, Massachusetts is the only state with full marriage equality; civil unions are available in Connecticut and Vermont, and New Jersey recently did so as well. In 2007, it looks like the only state where the 57% speculation could apply would be California, as cases reach its Supreme Court (and equality legislation will be considered as well).

Check out Autumn’s diary for more findings in the poll, including the fact that 25% of respondents think the second coming of Jesus Christ will occur this year.
