Two deputies with Italy’s small but vocal Radical Party caused an uproar among appalled legislators in this predominantly Catholic country on Wednesday when they placed dolls representing two gay couples next to Parliament’s nativity scene. According to the Reuters article, the Barbie and Ken-type dolls were lying down among the shepherds witnessing the birth of Jesus in the scene, and were removed by parliamentary ushers. A conservative party member said “This is a vulgar and unacceptable double attack against both a (national) institution as well as a religious symbol.” Tee hee.
