House Ethics Committee to discuss Foley investigation today

CNN is reporting that the House ethics committee will hold a press conference today at 2PM EST to talk about the investigation into Mark Foley’s predatory behavior toward pages — and what his colleagues did (or didn’t do) about it.
So, will it be a whitewash? What kind of recommendations, if any, will they have about protecting pages from predatory elected officials?
I don’t think anyone’s going to suffer any consequences. It’s going to be one of those “mistakes were made” kind of announcements.
Of course if you’ve read the long Vanity Fair piece on Foley, it’s clear many people, elected officials and the media, knew of his power-driven behavior back in the 90s (as well as his orientation as far back as the 80s). It will be interesting to see how many people will admit to having known about the page issue — and when.
The public won’t buy a report that says no one knew anything about what was going on — or that those responsible acted swiftly or appropriately.
