Fun quote of the day – open thread
Here’s a good belly laugh for you — a press release from the soon-to-be former RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman on Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn), who announced yesterday that he wouldn’t run for prez in 2008.
“Bill Frist has been and will remain the very definition of a public servant. Whether it’s saving lives through performing surgery in Africa or helping craft new laws to save Americans from terrorists, Bill Frist’s dedication, principles, creativity and compassion have made America a more prosperous place and the world a more decent place. I salute his service and look forward to his continued service in the coming years.”
Entertainingly, Ken is now talking about how his GOP with its hog-wild spending has gone astray — and wants the crooks in his midst held accountable.
“Ronald Reagan reinvented the Republican Party in the 1980’s as the party that would change government, not sustain it,” Mehlman said during a speech at the Republican Governors Association in Miami, Florida.
…The RNC head also implored party members to hold their colleagues to high ethical standards.
“If Republicans are guilty of illegal or inappropriate behavior, they should pay the price and suffer the consequences,” Mehlman said.
By the way, today Condi — AGAIN – ruled out a prez bid.
