Babies don't belong in the microwave or the freezer
That seems obvious, doesn’t it?
While gays and lesbians are being told that they should not adopt children — or are legally prevented from doing so (see Florida), here we have cases where clearly, these people have no business being around a child.
From Dayton, Ohio:
An infant girl who died of a high body temperature might have been put in a microwave, and her mother has been charged in the death, authorities said Tuesday.
…The microwave was taken as evidence, police Sgt. Gary White said. “The microwave oven is definitely part of the investigation,” he said.
The death was ruled a homicide caused by hyperthermia, or high body temperature, because of burns. But the burns the child suffered were not external ones as there would have been with scalding water, Betz said.
CNN has video.
Or how about this, in Ottawa, Canada:
A Canadian man who could not figure out how to deal with his girlfriend’s feverish 10-month-old daughter put the baby into a freezer to cool her down, a local newspaper reported on Friday.
Derrick Hardy faces charges of criminal negligence and assaulting the infant, who was rescued when her mother came home, the Charlottetown Guardian said.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said the mother found the girl crammed into the freezer alongside ice cubes and hamburger meat. Hardy said he had left the door ajar but the mother said it had been closed when she returned.
UPDATE: Good grief — explain this het horror, in Lansing, Michigan?!
A woman who hit her 7-year-old adopted son on the head with a hammer and didn’t seek help while the boy slowly died was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without possibility of parole.
Lisa Holland, 33, was convicted in October of first-degree murder, and the sentence was mandatory.
Ingham County Circuit Judge Paula Manderfield choked back tears — as she did earlier this month when sentencing Holland’s husband, Tim Holland, to 30 to 60 years in prison for his role in the death of Ricky.
“Basically you buried your dog, but you threw away your child,” Manderfield told Lisa Holland, citing trial testimony.
