Oh my — more GOP closet doors are flying open…
Florida GOP gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist has a problem. He’s denied that he’s gay, but an alleged bedmate has a different story.
The GOP staffer, 21-year-old Jason Wetherington, told friends at separate social functions in August that he had sex with Crist, according to two credible and independent sources who heard Wetherington make the claim first-hand.
Wetherington, who recently worked as a field director for U.S. Senate candidate Katherine Harris and currently works for state representative Ellyn Bodganoff’s reelection campaign, also named a man whom he said is Crist’s long-term partner, a convicted thief named Bruce Carlton Jordan who also recently worked for Harris in her long-shot Senate bid.
…Crist, for his part, has been moderate on those issues and supports civil unions. “I’m a live and let live kind of guy,” he told me. But the Palm Beach Post reported on Friday that Crist can be heard in recently recorded phone calls targeting voters saying, “I support a constitutional amendment to protect traditional marriages, and I oppose adoption by gay couples.”
…Wetherington recounted that he spoke with Crist about a campaign matter and “one thing led to another and they had sex.”
“No birthmarks, moles, or such,” said the source. “He also said that it happened on more than one occasion.”
Yipes. Perhaps the denial is plausible because he’s not gay, but bisexual. Interesting.
Bonus mind-blower from Shakes Sis. She reminded me about this endorsement of Crist from Rev. O’Neal Dozier, pastor of the Worldwide Christian Center in Pompano Beach.
The Rev. O’Neal Dozier said that before the dream he did not know Crist, nor had Crist made known his plans to run for governor.
“The Lord Jesus spoke to me and he said ‘There’s something I want you to know,'” said Dozier… “‘Charlie Crist will be the next governor of the state of Florida.’ …I introduce to you, as the Lord Jesus has said, the next governor of the state of Florida, Charlie Crist.”
Shakes Sis emailed me — Does that mean Jesus has come out in favor of gay rights?
Meanwhile, Mike Rogers of BlogActive has busted the homo chief of staff for the anti-gay Rep. John Shimkus, Craig Roberts. Shimkus, you’ll recall, is the GOP member of the page board who knew early on about the Foley emails and IMs and didn’t bother telling the Dem page board member. He is another GOPerv enabler. Mike:
I have heard over and over from some of these guys how they are ‘working from within the party to make things better for gay people.’ In some rare cases, it’s true — and I don’t report on those guys here. That clearly can’t be the case with Shimkus’ staff. According to the HRC Scorecard, his rating dropped eight percentage points from the 108th congress:
Thanks, for nothing, Craig.
Roberts, btw, confirmed in a phone call with Mike that Shimkus knows he’s gay — and clearly has no problem with Roberts working for him. Too bad Roberts has so little self-respect that he’d work for someone with a record like this.
