Blogactive: chief of staff for another anti-gay congressman is gay

Blogactive is reporting that Jim Brandell, the chief of staff for Michigan’s 4th District Congressman, Dave Camp, is gay.

For all those arguments folks make that having gay staff opens the hearts and minds of their bigoted elected masters, it’s clear that they may hire and personallly like their homos on a leash, but when the rubber hits the road, it’s the vote that counts. How much more self-loathing can you get when your boss votes like this:

* Camp has earned a 0% rating on Human Rights Campaign’s 2006 Congressional Scorecard. What does this mean? It means Camp took anti-gay positions on legislation including the Federal Marriage Amendment (H.J. Res. 88), the Military Readiness Enhancement Act (H.R. 1059), which would repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and the Uniting American Families Act (H.R. 3006), which would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide same-sex partners of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents the same immigration benefits legal spouses of U.S. residents enjoy. Nice work, supporting your man, Jim.

* Camp is rated 92% by the Christian Coalition

* Camp received a 100% rating from Concerned Women for America.

Is Brandell proud of his work on the Hill facilitating and promoting the passage of legislation that hurts the lives of everyday, taxpaying gay citizens? Maybe he’ll step forward and explain how he can cash that paycheck and sleep like a baby at night.

Bonus! From Congressional Quarterly’s PoliticalMoneyLine, look where Brandell’s support goes.
