Water is wet!

There’s no evidence Saddam Hussein had a relationship with Abu Musab al-Zarqaqi and hi Al-Qaida associates, according to a Senate report on prewar intelligence on Iraq. Democrats said the report undercuts President Bush’s justification for going to war.

Hell, I could’ve told them that at half the cost to U.S. taxpayers.

No, seriously, the Senate’s "naivete" regarding the run-up to the Iraq war is utterly beguiling. If only I’d realized that our elected officials had been skipping around the Senate office building like live-action Hummel figurines in their dirndl skirts and liederhosen, daisy-filled baskets swinging on their arms, pigtails flapping in the wind, oblivious to the war-profiteering machinations of the Bush regime, I wouldn’t be so hard on them for coming to this conclusion rather late in the game.  But as it stands, the Senate’s hands are just as bloodied as Dick Cheney’s and Donald Rumsfeld’s for not questioning the junta more thoroughly before it patted them on the head and sent our soldiers off to die.

Now here’s the $64 trillion question:  what is the Senate going to do with this information, hmmm?  Use it as an excuse to buy more gingham?
