Dirk Diggler’s Atlas

I don’t get it.  John Bolton seems to have tons of time to talk with Pamela Atlas, but he doesn’t want to talk to Taylor Marsh.  Taylor put in a request for an interview, and was told that Disco Bolton "hadn’t given many interviews to bloggers" and probably wouldn’t be granting one to her.

Says Scott T. Paul over at TPM Cafe:

As far as I can tell, Bolton has interviewed with one blog, and that is Atlas Shrugs, which Bolton considers a "news publication" and whose author he considers a "journalist." Here’s what Atlas Shrugs has to say about Islam: "the Quran, is a document of exclusion, hatred and violence that shapes the Muslim’s thinking and behaving. This stone-age document is optimally suited for people of stunted development."

That’s not offensive enough? How about this: "All the excuses, grievances and reasons given for savagery of the jihadists and Islamofascists are side issues. It is Islam, dummy. It is Islam itself. Get it?"

Inquiring minds want to know why Bolton granted Pamela Oshry an exclusive interview, elevating her from the most obscure and lunatic corner of the blogosphere into the public eye. Ambassador Bolton, are these your beliefs too, or did you sit for this interview because it would rile up the base and help your confirmation chances? Senators, citizens, and the international community will want to know.

I’m guessing any Bolton interview request would probably be aided by enough martinis to render one unconscious and face down in the crotchless panty bin at the Pleasure Chest, although I don’t know that for a fact.  But as a veteran of Plato’s Retreat, Disco Bolton appears to have a thing for horizontal journalism — a route some are obviously more willing to take than others.

Sadly, Taylor is probably SOL.  But it should be interesting to watch an unprofessional blogger like herself compete with the high standards of, you know, the pros.
