This and that – Blend news

* Starting tomorrow, The Rude Pundit will be on a Red State vacation and he invited me, along with a stellar crowd, to guest post. I will toss in my foul-mouthed contribution on Friday, August 4.

Here’s the lineup of fine female bloggers — all prepared to get lewd, rude and crude…

Monday, July 31:
Bitch Phd and Angry Black Bitch (it wasn’t intentional to have a day of the “Bitch,” but sometimes chaos works out that way)

Tuesday, August 1:
Jill Filipovic of Feministe and Egalia of Tennessee Guerilla Women

Wednesday, August 2:
Avedon Carol of the Sideshow and Shakespeare’s Sister

Thursday, August 3:
Maryscott O’Connor of My Left Wing and Echidne of the Snakes

Friday, August 4:
Lindsay Beyerstein of Majikthise, Lauren Bruce of Feministe, and Pam Spaulding of Pam’s House Blend and Pandagon

Any particular topics that you’d like me to take on in the Rude vein?

* A couple of days ago I was interviewed by a reporter for a Curve magazine article! Kind of fun. It may not appear in print until November or even later. When I know, I’ll post. The editor would also like for me to contribute a piece on my hair journey sometime as well. Now I have to find some time to actually sit down and do that.

* Another profile is up on Duke Today (a publication for employees). The picture is completely unflattering, sorry to say. I don’t know what kind of lens the photographer was using; I may be larger than the average chick, but that distortion is way off. Sigh.

* I’m going to the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association’s 2006 National Convention & 3rd annual LGBT Media summit at the The Loews Miami Beach Hotel September 7-10. I’ll be on one of the Saturday panels (and no, nothing about this trip is comped either, but it’s a great chance to meet a lot of folks I only know virtually). The panel:

Advocacy + Personality + Journalism = Blogging
“The Big Gay Picture,” “Pam’s House Blend” and “Good As You” have personalities that give each blog a unique style and take on issues affecting our community. All work to bring news and analysis to their readers in a manner that is smart, witty and thoughtful. Join us as the people behind the three blogs talk about how they use their varying points of view and sensibilities to promote LGBT causes.

Coordinator: Michael Jensen, Co-Founder, [the late, but not forgotten] “The Big Gay Picture” and AfterElton
