Send In the Clowns (Don’t Bother, They’re Here Edition)

Roger L- Simon.jpg

God must like me, because he keeps sending the stupid people.  Yesterday, Ann Althouse.  Today, Moses Whine and his Barbara Bushian delicate ears, who doesn’t iike it when Bush’s Favorite Democrat is referred to as Rape Gurney Joe:

This is the kind of political thinking that is so primitive it’s hard to honor it with the word "thinking" at all. In her blindness, Firedoglike also employs language like "fucking" and so forth to make her points.

Sorry to soil your beatiful mind, Roger.  For the record, my name is listed at the top of the post.  "Firedoglake" is a website that at last count has some 30 people writing for it with varying degrees of frequency. It’s not a "her."  It’s a rather simple distinction.

Evidently Lieberman has defended the post-rape policies of Catholic hospitals, which this blogger (FDL) finds anathema. Now I don’t know where Lieberman really stands on this issue in detail.

But that won’t stop Pajamas Media scam artist and Wingnut Welfare Queen Simon from commenting on the situation, will it?

Here, let me help him out:

When asked about the decision of Catholic hospitals to not dispense Plan B contraceptives, even to victims of rape, Lieberman replied, "Hospitals that refuse to give contraceptives to rape victims for ‘principled reasons’ shouldn’t be forced to do so…In Connecticut, it shouldn’t take more than a short ride to get to another hospital”.

Evidently using the "f" bomb is much, much worse than telling rape victims to get up off a hospital gurney (hence the expression "Rape Gurney Joe"), regardless of condition, and take what is sure to be a "short ride" (a myth ably dispelled by Connecticut Bob) if they want to prevent being impregnated by their rapists.  Yes, I can see why Moses Whine left that little detail out of his post.

He then takes a truly bizarre detour into the New York Tunnel plot to come to the conclusion that the Democrats have dug themselves a deep hole because we are Not All Joe Lieberman (another Simon fantasy).  But that is, after all, the chief complaint here, isn’t it?  Simon is one of those former lefty apostates who decided to chuck every principle he ever had and hitch his wagon to the NeoCon war wagon, and it’s all going down the shitter.  I think TBogg sums up my feelings on Simon pretty well:

Now I may not be as "emotionally or morally sophisticated" as Roger L Simon, but then I didn’t spend the afternoon of 9/11 flushing away my beliefs and convictions in a piddle-stained panic. So please spare me the "cojones" and "cowardice" locker room speech from the man who is one car backfire away from turning into a fedora floating in a puddle of pee.

You wanna run into the arms of the big strong steely-eyed rocket man? Be my guest. But when he picks your pocket, steals you car and leaves you high and dry in some cheap motel near Waco, don’t come crying to me.

Is it any wonder Simon is soiling himself when he reads a few four-letter words?  Tisk-tisk.  Politics is ugly, and the right wing thuggery that Simon has never had any problem with doesn’t seem to be providing him with as much cover as he’d like these days for his safe, cloistered little hothouse fantasies about the world.

Are the wilting violets on the right going to make it this easy?
