First switchblades, then guns…
…now it’s power saws as the urban weapon of choice?
A Bronx man was arrested Thursday in connection with a portable power saw attack on another man in a Morningside Heights subway station early this morning.
Investigators say 33-year-old Tareyton Williams has been charged with attacking a man at the Cathedral Parkway and 110th Street station around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
According to police, 64-year-old U.S. Postal Service worker Michael Steinberg was attacked as he came through the turnstile by Williams, who was yelling and waving two power saws in the air. The attack was apparently unprovoked.
As a former NY resident (in the 70s and 80s), I lived there in the heydey of the crime and grime, but this is clearly more colorful than anything I experienced — aside from the chaos of the 1977 blackout, of course.
