The I'm not sh*tting you post of the day
The Competitive Enterprise Institute has produced two 60-second television commercials that are airing in 14 cities for the next week or so. The organization is “dedicated to advancing the principles of free enterprise and limited government. We believe that individuals are best helped not by government intervention, but by making their own choices in a free marketplace.”
These propaganda pieces of fiction focus on why we should continue burning those fossil fuels at will because the threat posed by global warming just isn’t real.
“The campaign to limit carbon dioxide emissions is the single most important regulatory issue today,” says Marlo Lewis, a CEI senior fellow in environmental policy. “Claims of looming climate disaster due to energy use are unfounded; our ad campaign is a call for balance in public discussions of global warming.”
When Blender Wes emailed me about this, I thought he was kidding. After I watched the two commercials, I have to believe that the folks in this outfit are insane.
Here’s one, “Energy,” which extolls the virtues of pumping CO2 into the air. I can’t begin to describe how unhinged the reasoning and rationalizing about polluting the planet is in this commercial — please go see it.
CEI also begs for money, saying “your support will help us continue our fight against global warming alarmism, and for affordable energy and economic freedom around the world.”
