We've found the remaining Roy Moore supporters
…And they are in a group of Texas-based veterans.
Judge Roy Moore made national headlines several years ago when, as chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, he refused a federal judge’s order to remove a granite Ten Commandments monument from the state judicial building. Moore was eventually removed from his seat because of the incident.
Now Moore is a contender in the Yellowhammer State’s race for the governorship. Jim Cabaniss, president of Houston-based American Veterans in Domestic Defense (AVIDD), is encouraging veterans in Alabama to vote for Moore in the June 6 primary.
“We want to send a message to [groups like] the ACLU and the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Americans for Separation of Church and State and let them know they don’t run the state of Alabama,” says Cabaniss. “They don’t run this nation. The people do.”
…Recent polls indicate Moore trailing incumbent Governor Bob Riley by a two-to-one ratio. But Cabaniss believes Christian voters will provide strong support for Moore.
“I would encourage all the church people [to support Moore],” he says. “I mean, what better opportunity do you have to elect and endorse a Christian patriot? My goodness — if they don’t understand this, they’re not thinking very clearly.”
