CIA hookergate implosion
Doesn’t it seem like a house of cards at this point? (CNN):
The third-highest official at the CIA, under investigation over ties to a defense contractor linked to a Capitol Hill bribery inquiry, has decided to step down, intelligence sources told CNN Monday.
…[Kyle “Dusty”] Foggo is being investigated by both the FBI and the CIA’s inspector general over ties to a defense contractor linked to the bribery case against former U.S. Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham of California.
The investigations stem from Foggo’s relationship with defense contractor Brent Wilkes. The two men have reportedly been friends since childhood.
…After media reports surfaced last week alleging Wilkes provided Cunningham with limousines and prostitutes at two Washington hotels, Foggo said he had attended poker parties thrown by Wilkes at the hotels.
To add to the fun, the man tapped by Dear Leader, CIA Nominee Gen. Michael Hayden, is linked to the company tied to the bribe/prostitution scandal. From TPM Muckraker:
Hayden, President Bush’s pick to replace Porter Goss as head of the CIA, contracted with MZM Inc. for the services of Lt. Gen. James C. King, then a senior vice president of the company, the sources say. MZM was owned and operated by Mitchell Wade, who has admitted to bribing former Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham with $1.4 million in money and gifts. Wade has also reportedly told investigators he helped arrange for prostitutes to entertain the disgraced lawmaker, and he continues to cooperate with a federal inquiry into the matter.
King has not been implicated in the growing scandal around Wade’s illegal activities. However, federal records show he contributed to some of Wade’s favored lawmakers, including $6000 to Rep. Virgil Goode (R-VA) and $4000 to Rep. Katherine Harris (R-FL).
…if you expect me to pass up a scandal involving poker, hookers and the Watergate building with crooked defense contractors and the No. 3 guy at the CIA, named Dusty Foggo (Dusty Foggo?! Be still my heart), you expect too much. Any journalist who claims Hookergate is not a legitimate scandal is dead—has been for some time and needs to be unplugged. In addition to sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, Hookergate is rife with public interest questions, misfeasance, malfeasance and non-feasance, and many splendid moral points for the children. Recommended for Sunday school use, grades seven and above.
No kidding. The MSM didn’t mind covering Bill’s BJ 24/7; this certainly rates reality-based coverage.
