What a Welcome Home Present! A “Snow Job?” Sweeet.

CNN’s Suzanne Malvaux is reporting this morning that Tony Snow of Faux News (fair and balanced, my ass) has decided to take the Scotty McClellan Honorary Punching Bag Chair job as White House Spokesperson.

A source familiar with the discussions said Monday that newly appointed Chief of Staff Josh Bolten asked Snow to make a decision by early this week.

Two sources familiar with the discussions said Bolten wanted to fill the post this week, as early as Tuesday.

Gee, would those two sources have the initials JB and TS? Could they be more obvious with their "don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out, Scotty" attitude?  Does this mean we can expect an announcement…erm…today?  Guess we’ll see.

Seems to me, as quickly as all of this has happened, that there have been a whole lot of behind-the-scenes machinations going on with this appointment. (Note to reporters covering the story: McClellan’s mercurial momma is still smarting from not receiving WH support for her gubernatorial run in Texas. She might spill the dirt if her boy isn’t happy with his bum’s rush. I’m just saying.)

Here’s a thought for Josh Bolten:  Your boss sucks at his job.  Everyone knows it.  His poll numbers are tanking because of this, and no "Snow job" replacement at the spokesperson’s podium is going to change this.   (And, truly, isn’t this going to be the gift that keeps on giving in terms of political writing?  Mwahahaha.)

As amusing as it was to watch McClellan’s inept press tap dance every day (thank you, Holden), a change in that particular job is not going to make the truth go away:  the truth is that your boss makes crap decisions, those decisions make Americans unhappy, and the bulk of the public holds him accountable for making them — even when his staff and the Rubber Stamp Republican Congress give Bushie a pass.

Welcome to reality.  Enjoy the Snow job — but it won’t do you a damn bit of good.

BTW, vacation was lovely — Disney World was not too crowded, considering we went during Easter Week/Spring Break.  (Although I would not advise taking your child when she is three, just for an FYI to all the parents in the audience.  Wait until they are older.  Trust me on this one…)  But I spent the whole vacation missing you guys, wondering what was going on in the news, and whether or not I’d have anything valuable to contribute to the discussion when I got back.  The fact that I was jonesing for the blog is a sure sign that I’m hooked — and although it was a much needed vacation, I’m sure glad to be home.

UPDATE:  Mwahahaha.  Oh man, great cartoon.  A morning laugh for everyone.
