Buh-bye: Scott-bot out, Rove booted from 'policy development'
“I have given it my all sir and I have given you my all sir, and I will continue to do so as we transition to a new press secretary.”
— Scotty, finally tired of going into a fetal position from continuous pummeling as Dear Leader’s official lie-master
[UPDATE: Tony’s angling for this job more than I imagined – Think Progress has video of him attributing high gas prices to “People Complaining About Donald Rumsfeld.” ]
Geez, I go out to a business meeting and miss all the action about the Scott-bot stepping down and Karl Rove’s assignment shift. And even more wingnuttery’s rolling in — a suggestion that Faux News’s Tony Snow might get the call to officially shill for the White House, something he’s been doing from the mothership of “fair and balanced” for quite some time. (CNN):
A shake-up in U.S. President George W. Bush’s administration widened Wednesday as White House press secretary Scott McClellan announced his resignation and a senior administration official said longtime Bush confidant Karl Rove will no longer oversee policy development.
…CNN has learned from multiple Republican sources that new White House chief of staff Josh Bolten reached out to Fox News anchor Tony Snow several weeks ago at the White House. Snow, who was a speechwriter for former President George H.W. Bush, had no comment on the story.
…As for Rove — the powerful architect of Bush’s two presidential campaigns — a senior White House official told CNN that Rove will no longer focus on policy but will be involved in long-term strategic planning as a deputy chief of staff and a senior adviser.
The official said the Joel Kaplan, now a deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget, will move to the White House as deputy chief of staff for policy.
I don’t see how shifting Turdblossom is going to make a bit of difference in the mix, since he’s running the political show no matter what office he’s sitting in. This bit of business is simply smoke and mirrors.
