Crazy Pat wants Soulforce Equality Riders arrested
Jerry Falwell had members of the peaceful, nondenominational gay civil equality advocacy group Soulforce cuffed and arrested recently when they showed up at Liberty University to engage with students on gay issues.
Crazy Pat Robertson’s crew has made it clear that when the Equality Riders come to Regent University that they will be arrested there as well.
The decision to bar the group reverses an invitation made by the school last month when Vice President of Academic Affairs Randall Pannell said the college was “looking forward to the Equality Ride’s visit”.
“We had remained optimistic that forums for genuine dialogue would emerge with Regent University,” said Equality Rider Chad Grandy, the point person for Regent. The college says the decision to “univite” the Soulforce riders was based in part on a statement on the ride’s Web site that says Regent has a policy banning GLBT students.
Pannell said the the school has no such policy, something Soulforce continues to dispute, pointing to the Regent University student handbook which states “…homosexual conduct or any other conduct, which violates Biblical standards, is prohibited.”
