A busy week for the Empty Wig
Eva at Lloydletta passed this great one on, a post from a right-wing blog on The Empty Wig, Senator Elizabeth Dole with an account of her appearance at a St. Pat’s fundraiser in St. Paul for Minnesota Congressman Mark Kennedy, who is running for the U.S. Senate. Kennedy was an original co-sponsor of the Federal Marriage Amendment, btw.
Dole was there as the inept head of the National Repug Senatorial Committee. “Sugar Lips” been very busy lately in that role, doing some whiz-bang work in the last week or so (see NRSC hits Harold Ford with ‘Big Pimpin’ web site, and The Empty Wig threatens voters with ‘mandatory’ survey).
The Wind Beneath the Right Wing is keen on some Liddy…
While I did not pay $500 for the Shamrock dinner or $150 for the Leprechaun Reception, I did pay $35 for the St. Patty’s Day Bash. The Irish dancers were excellent (especially for their young age).
…Senator Dole had a great speech and looked very nice in her green dress. She looked a little too classy to be at that bar (with all due respect to O’Gara’s). She looks great for being 69 years old. If she were 10 years younger, I think she would be the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president in 2008. Her speech, while short, energized the crowd and was well received. She left the room after her speech and shook quite a few hands on the way out. However, Kennedy stayed after Dole left to chat with people still in the bar.
Trust me — my senator, who has the worst constituent services in the country, is not presidential material.
By the way, dedicated Republicans, if they sold ten $150 tickets to the Shamrock Dinner or the Leprechaun Reception, got an upgrade to the Leprechaun reception and a photo of Mark Kennedy and Liddy.
