Wisconsin gov slams proposed marriage amendment
Another lonely spine found in a sea of spineless Dems. He should expect an onslaught by Republicans there, tying him to the Homosexual Agenda. (365gay.com):
Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle used his Martin Luther King Day speech to denounce a proposed constitutional amendment that would bar same-sex couples from marrying.
“We should not enshrine discrimination in the Constitution of the state of Wisconsin, Doyle said in a speech in the Capitol Rotunda. The proposed amendment, that defines marriage as being between a man and woman, passed the legislature last year and needs to be passed a second time in this session in order to be placed on the November ballot.
Wisconsin already has legislation barring same-sex marriage, but supporters argue the amendment is needed because current state law, which defines marriage as a union between a man and wife, is too vague and judges could interpret that wording to permit gay marriage.
