Sadly, another nail is hit on the head
Go read Peter Daou’s ace The Dynamic of a Bush Scandal: How the Spying Story Will Unfold (and Fade). He hits the nail on the head about the sad truth that if the Dems want to succeed at overthrowing the dry-drunk President and his wholly corrupt Administration, they have to change their game plan.
The White House knows how it will unfold. And it’s an all-too-familiar pattern.
The cause of [the Constitution’s] demise is the corrosive interplay between the Bush administration, a bevy of blind apologists, a politically apathetic public, a well-oiled rightwing message machine, lapdog reporters, and a disorganized opposition. The domestic spying case perfectly illuminates the workings of that system. And the unfolding of this story augurs poorly for those who expect it to yield different results from other administration scandals.
Peter goes on to list the ten stages of the “typical Bush scandal” — you’ll recognize them all.
Read, come back and comment — what can be done about this?
