AFA's Don Wildmon: don't criticize Right or we'll pull support of Israel

Well isn’t that Christian of Don Wildmon of the American Family Association. He’s smarting because Anti-Defamation League President Abraham Foxman has been calling out the Religious Right for what Foxman termed the bible-beater effort to “Christianize America.” Foxman was just telling it like it is in his speech, when he took on Focus on the Family and the Family Research Council. This is what got Wildmon’s ire up.

Foxman said… these groups seek to use the government to further their missionizing goal, Democrats and Republicans alike are “pandering” to the religious conservatives.

…”What we’re seeing is a pervasive, intensive assault on the traditional balance between religion and state in this country,” he said. “They’re trying to bring Christianity to all aspects of American life. They’re not just talking just about God and religious values but about Jesus and about Christian values.”

…But even more threatening, Foxman said, is how the views of many of the most strident Evangelical leaders have started to pervade American society.

So Christo-fascist Donny got on his little radio program and unloaded his threat. (Media Matters):

Donald E. Wildmon, founder and chairman of the American Family Association (AFA), used the occasion of the December 5 broadcast of AFA Report, his daily program on AFA-operated American Family Radio

(AFR), to suggest that some members of the religious right would withdraw support for Israel if a prominent activist against anti-Semitism did not cease his criticism of it.

During the broadcast, Wildmon stated that Anti-Defamation League (ADL) President Abraham H. Foxman “got himself kind of in a bind” by criticizing the religious right. “[T]he strongest supporters Israel has are members of the religious right — the people he’s fighting,” Wildmon said. “[T]he more he says that ‘you people are destroying this country,’ you know, some people are going to begin to get fed up with this and say, ‘Well, all right then. If that’s the way you feel, then we just won’t support Israel anymore.’ “

Remember, these are the people Ford met and bedded down with. Given Ford’s past history of anti-Semitism, you’d have thought they’d steer clear of the AFA and its thuggery, no matter the hubbub over the homos.

You can listen to Wildmon rail on here.
