Katrina Vanden Heuvel of The Nation was on The Colbert Report yesterday, and she was a hoot. She has a nice little piece with excerpts from the Dictionary of Republicanisms (Nation Books), a compilation of re-definitions (or perhaps these should qualify as translations) of terms that spill from the mouth of the Right Wing. woman n. 1. Person who can be trusted to bear a child but can’t be trusted to decide whether or not she wishes to have thechild. 2. Person who must have all decisions regarding her reproductive functions made by men with whom she wouldn’t want to have sex in the first place [Denise Clay, Philadelphia, Pa.].
