Around this time last year, I posted about a local homophobic pastor, Patrick Wooden, Sr. of Raleigh’s Upper Room Church of God. He has a fixation on gay folks:

“I cannot stand by and say nothing while this wicked phenomenon takes place.”

“We have to block the use of euphemisms when we talk about homosexuals,” he said. “They are not gay. We’ve got to use terms like ‘deviant’ and ‘abomination.’ “

“If we’re labeled as being fanatical Christians, we embrace it.”

“[Homosexuality is] ‘one of the greatest enemies of Christianity.'”

He also went on a holiday campaign to put the “Christ” back in Christmas, which I posted about here. He bought a full-page newspaper ad urging ‘all Christians to spend their hard-earned dollars with merchants who include the greeting ‘Merry Christmas’ in their holiday advertising promotions this Christmas’. The church spent $7,600 on that crap – money that would have been better spent helping the less fortunate.

I guess with all the hubbub about “holiday trees” and Falwell threatening to sue anyone recognizing or promoting diverse religious or secular events this year, folks have been Googling and finding this old Wooden piece. I thought that I’d share a couple of comments that posted in the last couple of days. Real gems.

Ms. Pam,
Your an absoulute freaking moron….the word freaking was substituted, just FYI. Christmas (Christ) is missing in this world which tells us the end it near. It’s stupid SOB’s like yourself and anyone who supports you, who have turned this country against Christ. I know where I’ll be in my afterlife….do you? I can only pray for ignorant people such as yourself.

If your so concerned about the homeless…who for the most part are too damn lazy to get a job. Get off your ass and do something…begin a campaign, just get off your ass and try to make an impact. Provide these people with shelter, food, money, etc…whatver makes you feel good.

Pastor Wooden’s attempt is to our benefit spiritually…All you weird SOB’s in California need to listen to him. He message is clear and supported by myself and many other’s in this country. Unfortunately, we have to work and don’t have time to sit around and contemplate idiotic thoughts.

And another thing, regardless of what people believe in….THIS IS BUSH COUNTRY!!!!!!

I agree with everything that Pastor Wooden has stated. I admire Pastor Wooden for his boldness to declare the Word of God in these last days. Do understand that he is an annointed man of God. He speaks that which is found in the Word of God. So when you talk about him you speak against God’s word. Instead of talking about Pastor Wooden you should listen. You can learn alot.
Rev. Jamaar A. Scott

Entertaining, aren’t they? Wooden also:
* Said that NC needs another added level of protection for marriage that only a constitutional amendment can bring. “Let’s just put another lock on the door, just in case, just for safekeeping.”

* Sent about 100 members of his flock from Raleigh in a chartered bus to chastise the supporters of a non-binding motion by the Chapel Hill Council against the state’s marriage amendment, as well as the current Defense of Marriage Act push back in March. [They were handily outnumbered.]

Yes, I think we’ve learned more than we’d like to know about our local Willie Wilson (“Yo Butt Ain’t Made For That!”) and his following.

These “Christians” and their warped brand of faith are so tiring. You get the feeling that they create and spew this meaningless and blissfully ignorant shite out of the same “Pious Pulpit GeneratorTM.
