Check out Street Prophets
A new Kossack blog has been started up, Street Prophets, which takes on faith and politics. Pastordan (Rev. Daniel Schultz, a UCC minister) is at the helm and his writing’s worthy of your click.
Tonight he has a post up on the news that Love in Action is fighting closure by the state of Tennessee. The “ex-gay” facility was told to get a mental health license, so the good LIA AmTaliban there is suing the state claiming it doesn’t need one because it is a “faith based” operation. What kind of lunatic defense is this? Pastordan:
It’s shameful for a Christian “ministry” to hide behind faith as it provides substandard, if not downright fraudulent services to vulnerable populations. Above and beyond being “subject to governing authorities,” Christians are called to give their best to those in need, not half-assed handouts.
