And James Byrd was “mildly disgruntled” behind a truck…
Ah, the delicacy with which The Artist Formerly Know As The Big Trunk puts this:
Gene Allen is our man on the scene in Crawford this week. Yesterday Gene phoned to report on news regarding the protesters’ roadside crosses that had been disturbed by an unsympathetic driver.
I bet he spent all morning going through his album collection trying to find the right lyrics to decribe the action of an “unsympathetic driver” dragging a pipe on a chain behind a truck to mow down memorial crosses for dead American soldiers, and the best he could come up with was:
Slowride, take it easy
Slow down, go down, got to get your lovin’ one more time
Hold me, roll me, slow ridin’ woman you’re so fine
I’m in the mood
The rhythm is right
Move to the music
We can roll all night
But that really doesn’t capture the mood now, does it, so he took a pass.
