Barf bag: Katherine Harris is running for the Senate
Why can’t this woman just GO AWAY? Katherine Harris is the stuff nightmares are made of. She’s traumatized us by tossing the election to an unqualified dolt, and now she’s subjecting us to another run for higher office. She will have no problem raising cash, so it’s a matter of whether Bill Nelson is vulnerable.
Republican Rep. Katherine Harris, who as Florida’s secretary of state was both praised and vilified for her part in the 2000 presidential recount, said Tuesday she will run for the Senate next year against Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson. Her announcement brings a major name to the race, along with the potential to raise a lot of money.
“The time has come to launch a campaign for the U.S. Senate,” Harris told The Associated Press. Harris, who is serving her second term in Congress, is considered a top fundraiser and is a popular figure among Republicans. But she is also despised by some Democrats for her role in overseeing the recount that ultimately gave Florida and the White House to George W. Bush over Al Gore.
“Humbled by the task ahead but knowing in my heart that one of the greatest honors in life is having a chance to make a difference in the lives of others [What an understatement for her work in 2000, huh?], I am confident I can accomplish more for the people of Florida, and experience reminds me I’ve always done best when I’ve started out as the underdog,” Harris said.
