Adelphia cable adds gay channels, dumps Christian ones

Ha ha ha ha. The AmTaliban will have ulcers over this news.

A California pastor is encouraging concerned Christians to contact a cable television company in the Los Angeles area that has dropped a Christian channel from its lineup. Recently, Adelphia Communications cut FamilyNet from its channel offerings, thus eliminating access to the Christian station from more than 300,000 subscribers. But Pastor Wiley Drake of First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park, says the Adelphia Communications officials might be persuaded to rethink their decision. “They have indicated to us that [they might reconsider] if they received enough negative comments,” Drake explains, “that is, if the people would write Adelphia, especially those in the Los Angeles area, and say, ‘Hey, I like FamilyNet, and we want to keep it on.’ So that’s what we’re trying to do — get people in the Los Angeles area to write letters to the Santa Monica office.” And the Buena Park clergyman hopes people beyond the local viewing area will complain to the broadcast company decision-makers as well. “Maybe they have already gotten some complaints,” Drake says, “and so we’re hoping that the people will indeed write. We hope that anyone would write and say, ‘We encourage you as a network, Adelphia, to keep on good Christian broadcasting, especially here in Southern California.” FamilyNet is a ministry of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Meanwhile, another report says Adelphia also plans to drop another Christian station in mid-June — and then by the end of the month begin broadcasting LOGO, a new homosexual channel. Ron Shuping of i-Lifetv it is “interesting” that the change is occurring so soon after his channel is being dropped. But Don Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association, is not surprised. “You can expect the big cable companies to move toward channels such as the homosexual channel LOGO and away from Christian channels.”

You can thank Adelphia for its commitment to sanity and its gay customers:
