Why is ABC taking money from Focus on the Family?
Remember, it was only a few short months ago that NBC and CBS refused to run a “tolerance” ad welcoming gays to worship by the United Church of Christ? The preposterous reason was that it somehow endorsed same-sex marriage during an election year, and was deemed an “advocacy ad.” It did nothing of the sort. The spot said nothing about gay marriage, and nothing specifically about homosexuals at all. Even Jerry Falwell thought it was dumb not to allow it to run. (You can see the latest iteration of the campaign in the ad at right).
Well it looks like ABC has no problem taking money from religious zealot and homo-bigot James Dobson and Focus on the Family. It’s an outrage. (NYT):
The ad is the first national television spot purchased by the group and is part of an effort to bring its faith-based advice on parenting and relationships to younger families, said Jim Daly, the group’s president and CEO.
Daly said the program about a nanny teaching harried parents how to lay down boundaries for their children is very close to the message taught by Focus founder James Dobson, a child psychologist.
