Thoughts from the Charlotte area on homo-bigot/psycho Bill James
Mecklenburg County Commissioner Bill James: “You really think that a pool of people (homosexuals) where 45% of them eat feces from the rear end of another male is “normal”? If you do, you are frankly nuts. A lifestyle where one of their past times is buying gerbils and hamsters from the pet store and cramming them up their rears in an activity called feltching?”
I received an email from a supporter of the county commissioners that seek to extend Mecklenburg County’s anti-discrimination laws to gays and lesbians and to add domestic partner benefits. I updated her today about all the blogosphere chatter on bigot Commissioner Bill James and his interesting views on homosexuality and sexual behavior over the last couple of days.
I was out of town all weekend and did not have internet access. Oh My Gods and Goddesses! The Bill James Shit has really hit the fan hasn’t it!!! I was reading an article in the Abingdon Virginia newspaper this morning about the Rovian strategy of bringing up homosexual issues in order to divert, divide and conquer.
I wonder how many towns like mine have a Rove wannabe in their midst? Many, I would venture to guess. I am sure I have created a firestorm here in town by our expose of James and I have not yet had the time to answer my messages. I just feel sad and sick and want to take a psychological/spiritual shower. I think I have the answer to my questions: “How did Bush win?”, How Gonzales, How Rice, How Bolton, ad nauseum.
The district James represents is Edenic in its physical beauty, marked by wealth and abundance beyond description. There are McMansions galore, an upcoming PGA tournament, exclusive enclaves and gated communities, shopping opportunities beyond the pale — every symbol of wealth and privilege. One would think, if John Calvin’s theology were to hold any water, that this would be the site of the Fountain of Agape.
Sadly, I live in a paradoxical universe where those with much only want more: more money, more power, more control, more homogeneity of the populace. They are like the man in the Sufi tale who endlessly chases the sun around the world, never catching it and furious with the world for its failure to give him what he so desires.
In Charlotte’s case, the Jamesian chase only produces pure poison. And I grieve for Bill, for poison comes from pain. Please urge your readers to respond with the love that heals for he is truly a deeply wounded animal. Nothing can be gained by merely calling him names – it feeds the Beast that keeps him in a position to influence policy and opinion. It is the firestorm that Rove wants, expects and needs that we should deny him.
