Granny gets left high and dry in the nursing home over prayer
The absurdity over church/state separation continues… (AgapePress):
An Arkansas company has decided to stop operating four nursing homes where it recently instituted guidelines on mealtime prayers by elderly residents. The guidelines allow private prayer at individual tables, but not public prayer. Three weeks ago, a senior citizen threatened to sue Friendship Community Care unless the public prayers stopped. Friendship then sent a letter to residents, advising them that as a state-funded institution, it had to observe separation of church and state. The company has since decided that it does not want to get entangled in lawsuits over the issue. Its board has voted to give 30 days’ notice to the Area Agency on Aging of West Central Arkansas.
