Headline of the Day: Three Hogs Escape From Trailer In Pitt County

It’s another local story…hey, it’s bacon! I guess it’s more positive than the story about dead guy on the morgue slab that wasn’t really dead.

WINTERVILLE, N.C. — Some little piggies did not want to go to the market. A Greenville animal control officer had to assist in rounding up three hogs that had gotten out of a trailer on N.C. Highway 11. It’s the second time in two months that hogs have been on the loose in Pitt County.

The hogs — each weighing a few hundred pounds — headed to a grassy area in front of Pitt Community College, where animal control officers, police and college workers set up a temporary chicken-wire pen before loading them into the trailer.

One of the hogs suffered scrapes from its tumble onto the road. In December, six hogs fell out of the back of a trailer near U.S. 264.
