Come unto me, my non-uppity ones…
GW Bush celebrates MLK Day with the only African-Americans who can stomach him:
President Bush paid tribute on Monday to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at a ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on the holiday that commemorates Dr. King.
Mr. Bush also lavished praise on his secretary of state, Colin L. Powell, who is to step down on Thursday, when his successor, Condoleezza Rice, is expected to be sworn in. Mr. Powell and his wife, Alma, were at the ceremony to receive the John Thompson Legacy of a Dream Award, named for a former Georgetown basketball coach and given to a person who is judged to represent Dr. King’s ideals.
Mr. Powell also received twenty acres and a mule, but failed to retrieve his balls which were put into escrow at the start of the Bush presidency. The President has been known to pull them from his pocket and roll them in his hand when discussing the missing WMD’s.
