Texas trooper suspended for telling gay couple not to kiss
The trooper got a little too hot under the collar watching the homos kiss, and forgot that it’s not illegal. Oops. (nbc5i.com):
Department of Public Safety Trooper Michael Carlson got into trouble for telling two gay men who were kissing at the state Capitol that homosexual conduct is illegal in Texas.
One of the men is John Corvino, who teaches at Wayne State University in Detroit.
Corvino and another man were kissing in September while sitting on a park bench in Austin. In a complaint filed with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Corvino said the trooper told them, “We won’t have you doing this on Capitol grounds.”
One of the men complained to authorities. Carlson has been placed on job probation for six months and given a written reprimand. Carlson also must get more training on state laws.
For the record, Texas doesn’t outlaw same sex kissing. Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the state’s anti-sodomy law.
I’m waiting for the Freepers to pick up on this one.
