Woohoo — NJ same-sex ban likely to be overturned
KYW Newsradio is reporting that the Appellate Court in the Garden State is likely to rule same sex marriage legal.
A lower court ruled a year ago that the state’s ban on same-sex marriages did not violate the state constitution, so the couples appealed the ruling.
Arguing for the state, assistant attorney general Patrick DeAlmeida said same-sex couples now get many legal rights because of New Jersey’s domestic partnership law:
“There is nothing in the text, the history, or the intended purpose of the state constitution that would require the legislature to rewrite the definition of marriage in the way the plaintiffs request.”
David Buckel, an attorney for the plaintiffs, argued that the state ban against same-sex marriages sets apart a group of individuals for inferior treatment under the law.
Yes, and you know I had to hit Freeperville…
Is the Domestic Partnership law just for homosexual fornicators, or can any fornicator participate? What about mistresses? Do they get some benefits? I mean heck, they’ve got to share the partner, they at least ought to get their own governments benefits.

I am really really becoming tired of this same sex marriage issue. I am so sick of it infact that I am willing to support a Consitutional Amendment sayiing it is illegal to be gay. Wow. If that is PC then nothing is.

why privilege a relationship because it is sexual, to use their terms? Why not let everybody get a partner? It could be your sister, or your best friend, or a golfing buddy.
*&^% bloody activist judges and the republicans they rode in on.
