Interesting post by a regular visitor (Jim) to AmericaBlog, regarding what would happen to gay couples that have legally married (in Massachusetts or Canada) if the Bush vision of America comes to pass.
I’ve spoken to the Canadian consul here in Boston. He thinks that Canada would recognise glbt married couples as political refugees if the Federal amendment process goes through, or Bush gets three or four Supreme court nominees.
Makes the emigration procedure much quicker.
Imagine, though, being a political refugee from the USA for getting married and wanting those civil rights. It’s a sickening thing to contemplate happening to our country, all because of Bush and his religious right. I’m curious how much an economic hit would occur if all the GLBT money left the country for Canada.
