A Charles Pierce moment
Altercation is alwayts worth reading, but more so for Charles Pierce’s letter today, which begins:
We know they make it up. They know they make it up. We know that they know they make it up, and they know that we know they make it up. And they know that it doesn’t matter a damn. I mean, did you see C-Plus Augustus there in the Rose Garden? The man could get up tomorrow and announce that we are closing in on evidence that Saddam planned to deliver a nuclear bomb into Europe on the back of a snow-white unicorn, and somebody in the front row would say, “Mr. President, nobody can argue that Saddam was a very bad person, and you and me and everybody on Earth is better for his being deposed, but do you have any comment on the argument presented by some people that perhaps, maybe, snow-white unicorns are not necessarily the optimal delivery systems for what some people assume are perhaps nuclear bombs?†Sheesh.
