Maybe if it had a nice frame…
A painting depicting two police officers with a nightstick at the throat a black man has been removed from the City-County Building after complaints from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The painting depicts violent behavior, he said, and could influence potential jurors.
The painting shows a police officer placing a nightstick under a black man’s chin and another officer with his hand pressing against the man’s throat.
Writing on the back of the 18-by-24-inch canvas said the painting was dedicated to Marvin Ammons and George Bibins, who were fatally shot by police. The back also notes the painting’s title: “Detective Ass & Officer Nightstick.”
Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi subsequently purchased the picture saying, “I’ll bet Strom will get a kick out of this at his next birthday party.”
