Obama Plans To Leave 10,000 Troops In Afghanistan Past Deadline

Getting out in 2014? Not quite.

The Obama Administration announced today that it was planning to keep 9800 military personnel in Afghanistan past the announced deadline of 2014.

The same administration who misled on total troop withdrawal also claimed those 9800 soldiers will likely be removed by 2016 and are there solely to “train” the Afghan military, not fight insurgents.

President Barack Obama will seek to keep 9,800 U.S. troops in Afghanistan after the war formally ends later this year and then will withdraw most of those forces by 2016, senior administration officials said Tuesday…

The plan calls for the U.S. military to draw down from its current force of 32,000 to 9,800 by the start of next year. Those troops would be dispatched throughout Afghanistan and focus on counterterrorism missions and training Afghan security forces. They would not be engaged in combat missions.

They will focus on counterterrorism but won’t be “engaged in combat missions.” Does anyone even believe this nonsense anymore?

And don’t be surprised if by 2016 they are not exactly ready to go. There is also no mention of how many mercenaries the US will be employing in Afghanistan – the people that will definitely be engaged in combat missions. See how easy that is? No more US soldiers fighting in Afghanistan.

Wars never actually end anymore for America, no matter how futile or stupid.
