Poll: Americans Don’t Want to Get Involved in Crimea Situation

After two decade long wars 65 percent of Americans don’t think the US should provide military assistance to the Ukraine

We have another reminder that there is a huge gap between regular Americans and those inside the beltway when it comes to foreign policy issues.

While large parts of the Washington establishment have been obsessed with what to do about the situation in the Ukraine, most Americans don’t think we have a responsibility to act in a country on the other side of the planet with no clear American interests at stake.

According to a new CBS news poll, 61 percent don’t think the United States has a responsibility to do something about Crimea. A majority of Democrats, Republicans and Independents all feel this way.

Similarly, 65 percent don’t think the United States should provide military assistance to the Ukraine while just 26 percent think we should.

After two decade long wars the country has little appetite for more involvement in foreign disputes.
