Obama’s Fifth Year Job Approval Rating Nearly Identical to Bush

Last year President Obama’s average job approval rating was only 45.8 percent. This year it is nearly identical to George W. Bush’s rating at the same time in his presidency. From Gallup:

Elected Presidents' Fifth-Year Job Approval Averages

This should be a concern for Democrats given how low Bush’s rating dropped by the midterms in his sixth year and when he left office. It is not guaranteed Obama will follow Bush’s trajectory but given how paralyzed Washington is right now it is hard to see how Obama will be able to accomplish much to bring up his job approval rating which is low by historic standards.
