Partisans Are Only Concerned About Government Surveillance When the Other Side is in Charge

Apparently, the only way to get many self-identified Democrats or Republicans concerned about government surveillance is to put their opposing party in the White House. There has been a truly shocking reversal of opinions on this issue from the Bush administration to the Obama administration. From Pew:

While it may seem stupid, it is still  important to remind people the issue with these programs is not just with the current President. It doesn’t matter if you trust the President with these powers, what matters is whether you are willing to trust every possible future president with them.
