Apparently, Donald Trump Can Read a Poll
Remember just a few weeks ago when Karl Rove told Republicans they needed to banish birchers?
“Within our party, we’ve got to be very careful about allowing these people who are the birthers and the 9/11-deniers to get too high a profile and say too much without setting the record straight,” Rove said Wednesday night on Fox News.
And Rick Moran said, “Amen“?
We are at the exact moment in American history when we can least afford to have a third of the electorate held in thrall to fantasy. We need hard headed realism, not mushy headed conspiracy theories.
And that was all before the National Review harrumphed,
Much foolishness has become attached to the question of President Obama’s place of birth, and a few misguided souls among the Right have indulged it.
“A few.” Heh.
So how’s all that finger-wagging going?
Donald Trump is demanding President Obama prove he was born in the United States.
“I want him to show his birth certificate. I want him to show his birth certificate,” he shouted at the ladies of “The View.”
Trump may be a self-promoting, egotistical shallow asshole — but he’s not stupid. He can read a poll. And right now, 51% of John Birch Society Republican primary voters agree with him on the issue of Obama’s ‘Merikunism.
Good luck, Willard, telling The Donald he’s crazy, thereby alienating the bulk of your voters.
That Barack Obama’s a lucky man.
