Ted Stevens Asks to Skip Corruption Trial to Give Billions to Corporations

ted-stevens.thumbnail.jpgSen. Ted Stevens asked to be excused periodically from his corruption trial in order to address the current financial meltdown.

Stevens is on trial for accepting $250,000 in home repairs and other undeclared goodies from a major corporation in exchange for legislative favors for said corporation. Now, he’s asking to be excused from his corruption trial to help draft a multi-billion dollar corporate give-away.

The judge says Stevens can skip out from time to time, but he won’t tell the jury where the Senator is going.
